Flow Increment through Network Expansion

نویسندگان

چکیده

The network expansion problem is a very important practical optimization when there need to increment the flow through an existing of transportation, electricity, water, gas, etc. In this problem, augmentation can be achieved either by increasing capacities on arcs, or adding new arcs network. Both operations are coming with cost. paper, finding minimum cost so that modified transport given amount from source node sink studied. A strongly polynomial algorithm deduced solve problem.

Turbulent flow through a plane sudden expansion

The results are reported of an experimental investigation of turbulent flow through a plane sudden expansion of expansion ratio R=D/d=4 and aspect ratio A= w/h=5.33. It is well known that plane sudden expansions with R greater than 1.5 produce asymmetric flows and this was again seen in this study. The literature for the asymmetric situation (R>1.5) is surprisingly limited and only axial veloci...

Network flow models for the local access network expansion problem

In the local access network expansion problem we need to expand a given network (with tree topology) due to traffic demand increase. We can expand the network either by increasing the capacity of its edges and/or by installing equipments that concentrate the traffic of several demand points. This problem has received some attention in the literature. Here, we view the problem as an extension of...

Maximal Flow through a Network

Introduction. The problem discussed in this paper was formulated by T. Harris as follows: "Consider a rail network connecting two cities by way of a number of intermediate cities, where each link of the network has a number assigned to it representing its capacity. Assuming a steady state condition, find a maximal flow from one given city to the other." While this can be set up as a linear prog...

Stability of macroscopic traffic flow modeling through wavefront expansion

In this paper, second-order macroscopic vehicle traffic flow models are discussed from the perspective of their capability to reproduce stable and unstable traffic flow behaviors observed in real traffic. To achieve this goal, a nonlinear traffic flow stability criterion is derived using a wavefront expansion technique. Qualitative relationships between traffic flow stability and model paramete...

Parallel Computing Solution for Capacity Expansion Network Flow Optimization Problems

In classical linear network flow (LNF) problems, a network consists of multiple source and sink nodes, where each node is a sink node or a source node, but not both. Usually, there is only one kind of commodity flow and the goal is to find flow schedules and routes such that all sink nodes’ flow demands are satisfied and the total flow transmission cost is minimized. We develop a capacity expan...
